Our Athletic Programs

At Carrabassett Valley Academy, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student-athlete can excel in their sport and beyond. Our world-class programs provide athletes with access to premier coaching, extensive on-snow training, and state-of-the-art facilities. We embrace commitment and teamwork, and balance them with our values  of kindness, gratitude, and respect.

Sugarloaf Mountain

Carrabassett Valley Academy offers six primary winter sports: Alpine, Backcountry, Freestyle Freeski, Freestyle Moguls, Ski Cross, and Snowboard. Located at Sugarloaf Mountain, CVA provides a distinct advantage with diverse terrain, world-class training venues, and an extended at-home training season.

High Performance Athletic Development

Dryland training at CVA is led by specialized coaches and our High-Performance Coach, using both outdoor and indoor facilities, including the advanced Anti-Gravity Complex. This space offers Olympic-quality trampolines, a skate park, climbing wall, indoor court, weight room, and spin room. In the Fall term, we conduct physical testing through U.S. Ski & Snowboard's SkillsQuest program to create personalized training plans and goals. Our commitment is to help every Big Dog reach their full potential.

Mental Performance

Carrabassett Valley Academy is the only Ski & Snowboard Academy with dedicated Mental Performance programming for our athletes. Our Mental Performance coach provides support in key areas such as imagery, motivation, mood, and attention. This program helps athletes develop personal philosophies and mental skills that prepare them for challenges on and off the hill.

Supportive Community

Student-athletes at Carrabassett Valley Academy are supported by a community of high-achieving peers, dedicated coaching staff, and passionate teachers. The local support from Sugarloaf and the broader Carrabassett Valley community plays a crucial role in helping our CVA Big Dogs achieve their dreams.
